They are very friendly dogs. Great pets for the whole family if you start them from puppyhood. They follow on the heels of literally every family member. They are not very attached to the house, since they are slaves of their noses. Make sure you have a strong fence that can hold them back. The energy of these pets supports their strength.
#1 These dogs are first and fundamentally working dogs – they hunt large and small game.

#2 Though good-natured and easygoing, these hardy hounds are so in need of hard physical exercise.

#3 The problem with providing exercise is that, unless well-trained for hunting, it is a major risk to allow coonhounds off-leash.
