#8 The Whippet appeared in England only after the creation of another iconic English greyhound breed – the Greyhound.
Greyhounds, although the direct ancestors of the Whippet, were nevertheless large dogs that needed special care and special feeding. Greyhounds could only be allowed to be kept by high-class people, and for ordinary peasants, less expensive dogs were needed.
#9 The smallest Greyhounds were selected for breeding the Whippet, which were crossed with a variety of breeds.
