#13 Long-haired ones are easy-going and calm, and the soft-spoken Dachshunds fall somewhere in the middle in personality. Some Mini Dachshunds can be nervous or shy, however, this is not accurate for the breed. Avoid puppies that display these traits.

#14 Temperament is influenced by a variety of factors including heredity, training and socialization. Puppies with a good temperament are curious and playful, approach people and allow themselves to be held patiently.

#15 Choose a moderate pup, not the one that beats up his siblings nor the one that hides in the corner. Also, always meet at least one parent dog – usually this will be the mother – to make sure they have a comfortable temperament that you are happy with.
