All About Birds: Heron (22 Pics)

#22 Birds place the nest at a high enough height. It is used more than once: a couple of “repairs” and completes annually.

In the nest, females lay from three to seven eggs, which are then incubated for 27-28 days. Chicks hatch already sighted, after a week they are covered with grayish down.

Without parents, they are virtually helpless - in order to survive, they need to be provided with quality food, and this is very difficult to do. Therefore, from the entire brood, as a rule, from 1 to 3 chicks survive.

Young birds begin to fly on their own and find food for themselves in about 50 days. The offspring remains close to their parents, continuing to participate in the general life of the flock.
