All About Birds: Peacocks (15 Pics)

#13 The national symbol of Burma is the peacock

Until a year and a half, both sexes are indistinguishable in appearance. Only by the age of 3, the "boy" grows adult feathers. It is they who, when opening the tail, make it fabulously beautiful. Green, red, blue tone prevails.

#14 In the Middle Ages, birds decorated hats, dresses, knightly helmets with feathers.

Only the male has a luxurious bright fan-shaped tail. In females, it is unremarkable, ordinary, short, gray.

#15 The bird does not get along well with other birds, but it is unpretentious to food, it easily tolerates the cold.

In India, hunting peacocks is prohibited at the state level. Here the birds are sacred. The Hindus are sure that with their cry they warn of an impending thunderstorm, the approach of snakes and tigers.

In the Southern Hemisphere, there is the constellation "Peacock".
