The West Highland White Terrier is small, lively, active, courageous, has a great sense of self-esteem and pride with a playful appearance. Strongly built, deep chest, ribs pointing back, straight back, muscular legs with powerful hips are a wonderful combination of strength and agility. The guard coat consists of rough hair, about 2 inches long, without any appearance of kinkiness. The undercoat is quite soft, short, soft, and dense. A beautiful confirmation is achieved through an interesting combination of long coat, short back, and neck, smoothly merging into sloping shoulders. Enough framing wool is left around the head to create the typical Westie expression. Another name is the white alpine terrier. Bred at the end of the 19th century in the mountains of Western Scotland with the participation of the now-extinct white Scotch Terrier, from which he inherited a sharp muzzle, like a fox, and a large nose. This breed is used for hunting badgers, foxes, and mice.

Small, well-balanced, strong build. The head is covered with dense hair, set at a right angle or less to the axis of the neck. The skull is slightly convex. Ears are small, erect, erect, pointed, with velvety hair. The eyes are medium in size and dark. The nose is black with large nostrils. The body is strong with a deeply drooping chest. The front legs are longer than the hind legs, strong. Paws are round, with thick pads, covered with short, coarse hair. The tail is 13-15 cm long, straight, covered with coarse hair, without fringes. The wool is two-layer. The outer layer is made of tough wool. The undercoat is short and soft. Color from snow white to light wheaten.

Alert, lively, courageous, self-confident, friendly. Cons: Too shy or too aggressive.

  1. All of the Westies that I have had and researched most of them costed more than listed here. This last research before I got my current puppy showed that the prices ran from $1,000 to $3500. Everything in the description is truly correct about them. They are the perfect breed and will grab your heart.
