Rottweiler Dog Breed: Care

Caring for a Rottweiler has features that need to be considered. You need to know how to properly care for a Rottweiler in order to raise a strong, healthy, and balanced dog.

Where to Keep a Rottweiler: in an Apartment or in an Aviary?

A Rottweiler can be kept both in an apartment and in an equipped, spacious aviary.

However, keep in mind that the coat of these dogs is rather short, so it is cold outside in winter. If you want to keep your Rottweiler outdoors all year round, insulate the enclosure or take your dog indoors when the temperature drops below -10 degrees.

If the Rottweiler lives in an apartment, your task is to provide him with active and long walks, regardless of the weather. On average, the walk should last 1 – 1.5 hours.

Remember that a Rottweiler is bored without work or work. And when he gets bored, he can look for something to his liking (you may not necessarily like it), become completely uncontrollable, or get sick. If the dog lives in an aviary, he still needs walks.

How to Care for a Rottweiler Puppy?

Usually, a Rottweiler puppy gets to new owners in 2 – 3 months. The kid is already quite independent, eats well, and easily adapts to new conditions. But it is in your power to make the adaptation period easier and faster.

Prepare a comfortable place for your Rottweiler puppy – not in a draft, away from heating appliances.

Buy in advance the necessary ammunition (harness or collar and leash), care products, bowls, toys.

In the early days, show maximum care and attention to your Rottweiler puppy, and after a few days, he will feel like a real family member.

Hygienic Care for your Rottweiler

From the first days, accustom your Rottweiler to hygiene procedures: cleaning ears, caring for teeth and eyes, washing paws, grooming hair.

Check Rottweiler’s nails regularly and trim them with a nail clipper if necessary.

Rottweiler Hair Care

Rottweiler hair care is not too difficult. You should brush regularly (medium-hard, short-toothed). Then comb the coat with a comb. A special glove can be used to clean the Rottweiler’s wool.

During the molt, the Rottweiler is combed out (preferably 2 times a day).

The Rottweiler is bathed 2-3 times a year. Buy shampoo for short-haired dogs.

Rottweiler Ear Care

Clean the rottweiler’s ears once every 2 weeks with a cotton swab using special products (drops or lotions).

Rottweiler Teeth Care

Check your Rottweiler’s teeth regularly to check for tartar formation or gum disease. Give your dog bones (beef) for prevention.

Once a week, it is worth brushing the Rottweiler’s teeth using a special toothbrush and paste.
