Elephants are one of the most fascinating creatures on Earth. Despite their iconic status, however, many people are unaware of the specific factors that influence the distribution of elephants around the globe.
Distribution of Elephants: A Global Overview
Elephants are found in a variety of habitats throughout Asia and Africa. In Asia, they are primarily found in forest and grassland ecosystems, while in Africa, they are found in a range of habitats, from savannas and grasslands to forests and deserts. However, the vast majority of elephants live in Africa, where two distinct species of elephants are found: the African savanna elephant and the African forest elephant. Although the two species are closely related, they have significant differences in their physical characteristics and behavior.
