The Water-Drinking Habits of Cats
Cats are not known for being big drinkers. They have a low thirst drive and can survive on very little water. However, cats need to maintain hydration to avoid health problems like urinary tract infections, kidney diseases, and dehydration. Typically, cats prefer drinking fresh, clean, and cool water. They also prefer drinking from a wide, shallow dish rather than a deep bowl. Interestingly, cats are more likely to drink water during the night or early morning when humans are not around. They tend to avoid drinking water in front of humans, which can be a concern for cat owners.
