Boxer Dog: Care & Maintenance

Caring for a boxer is not too difficult, but it has specifics that need to be taken into account.

Smooth short hair should be brushed regularly with a rubber glove or soft brush. A hard brush will not work – it can injure your skin.

It is advisable to bathe the boxer at least once a year, then dry the coat thoroughly. If the dog gets dirty while walking, it is enough to wash the contaminated area. It is important to use the right shampoos for Boxers.

Wipe the folds on your face daily.

Examine the paw pads after each walk. Microtrauma can be fraught with inflammation. For puppies and old dogs, it is recommended to lubricate the skin on the paws with cream – before and after a walk.

Examine and clean your eyes and ears regularly.

The boxer’s teeth are cleaned at least 2 – 3 times a month. Human toothpaste is not suitable. If tartar appears, see a specialist.

When a boxer walks a lot on the asphalt, the claws can grind off by themselves. If not, they must be cut with a special nail clipper.
