Dachshunds have short, strong legs, thanks to which they can easily dig out prey and climb into holes. Larger representatives of the breed were used for hunting deer or foxes, and smaller ones for rabbits and ferrets.
Dachshunds are still used for hunting, mainly in Europe, but in North America, they have generally considered pests. This is one of the American Kennel Club’s most popular breeds.
