Bred in England, the Bearded Collie is also known as the Highland Collie. It got its name from the bearded collie because of its long facial hair. It is a medium-sized dog with medium-length hair, straight, coarse, and shaggy, naturally falling on both sides of the body. Curiosity and ingenuity are the qualities that characterize this breed. The bearded collie must be shown in its natural form. She needs an active lifestyle. Immediately becomes a favorite of the family. It resembles a shepherd’s dog in shape, only the body length is greater than the height of the dog at the withers. This breed is originally from Scotland, depending on the size of the dog and the length of its coat, there are large and small, short-haired and long-haired bearded collies. They are very intelligent, friendly, agile, balanced, active, healthy dogs with interrogative expressions on their face. They show no signs of aggression or fear. Their character is friendly and flexible. Loyal to the owner and wary of strangers. They make excellent nannies. The bearded collie should be brushed regularly to keep the coat shiny and not tangled.
The dog is elongated, (length-to-height ratio 5:4). The proportions of the body are measured from the front of the chest to the point of the buttocks, and the height is measured from the withers to the ground. Females may be slightly longer. The back is straight, blending smoothly into the croup. Its length is the length of the chest, not the length of the loin. Ribs well sprung but not barrel-shaped. The deep chest goes down to at least the elbows. Strong lower back.
The Bearded Collie is incredibly intelligent, friendly, cheerful, playful, and always active. This dog, full of enthusiasm and energy, is obedient by nature and prefers to spend time with people. Loves walks and outdoor games. She shows no signs of aggression or fear. Her character is friendly and flexible. Loyal to the owner and wary of strangers. She can make both a hardworking dog and an excellent nanny.
