The Finnish Spitz looks like a fox. The length of the body should either be in proportion to the height or be slightly shorter than the height (from withers to ground). The proportions are measured from the point of the shoulder joint or the front of the chest to the base of the tail. Usually, females are more elongated than males. In both males and females, the legs should be slightly longer than the back.

The muscular body of a square format. From withers to slightly sloping croup, the line of the back is straight and strong. Short loin. Deep and not very wide chest, almost reaching to the elbows and with a pronounced forepart. Depth of chest in relation to height (from withers to ground) is 4: 9. Ribs slightly sprung. The belly is slightly tucked up.

Active and friendly, lively and energetic, loyal, brave but careful. Shyness or a tendency towards unwarranted aggression should be severely punished.
