Many of us, at the sight of a catchy spotted Dalmatian, immediately recall either the symbol of the fire service, or the heroes of the Disney movie “101 Dalmatians”, but this breed has a much more diverse, although not fully known history. No one knows exactly where this breed came from, but the Dalmatians got their name from Dalmatia, a coastal region that was once part of Austria. They are believed to be descended from pointers.
