#16 The American Kennels Club (AKC) – a canine organization that united all breeds and had international recognition – registered the presented breed as a Staffordshire Terrier, and in 1972, as an American Staffordshire Terrier.
#17 In the 50s. In the 20th century, the AKC allowed breeding between Pit Bull Terriers and Staffordshire Terriers. Thus, the fighting breed was half recognized.
Currently, it is not prohibited from breeding but is registered only under the American Staffordshire Terrier.
