Volpino Italiano (Italian Spitz) is a small spitz with a square figure and long protruding hair.

The figure is square. The chest is deep, reaching to the elbows, and the ribs are well sprung. The shoulders are slightly raised. The upper contour is straight to the loin, where the line is slightly convex. The croup is very sloping. The abdomen is very tucked up and moderately deep at the sides.

Volpino is a very good watchdog, but some, after proper training, can be used as hunting dogs. Very active and loving dogs.
