Wolves are proud creatures, for many people have become a symbol of pride and love of freedom. True, the lone wolf is in many ways fanned by an aura of romance that does not quite correspond to reality – in fact, these animals prefer to live in a pack, although lone wolves do occur. Clever, cunning, and courageous, these creatures once instilled fear in travelers. Now they are driven out by the advancing civilization to remote corners of deep forests, and some of the wolf species are on the verge of extinction.
