How to Get Rid of Fleas?

Summer brings bright emotions to everyone, both the owners and their pets. This is air, sun, fresh greenery, the opportunity to frolic almost endlessly, travels are long and short. But warmth is not only positive emotions; such unpleasant comrades as fleas are also happy with it.

Fleas are active from the moment they melt until the first snowfalls. They live in natural conditions, both on the animals themselves and on the surrounding grass, foliage, bedding, burrows, nests, etc. And these parasites can be picked up not only by animals living constantly on the street in the yard or aviary, even purely domestic couch potatoes are susceptible to the danger of infection.

To do this, it is enough for the animal to visit the street at least sometimes – to walk the cats by themselves, small dogs in tall grass are especially at risk of picking up parasites (and if also with long hair …). Moreover, even while sitting at home, they can get parasites that have wandered from the entrance or brought on the clothes and shoes of the owners.

Fleas are dangerous for many reasons. Starting with an irritating effect – after all, their bites are painful enough, animals begin to itch and get nervous. At the site of the bites, scratches appear, which may well turn into eczema, hair falls out, and various allergies appear.

In addition, fleas are carriers of many diseases and other parasites. So, if your pet has fleas, then you need to prepare for treatment for everything. But now people with many novelties of the chemical industry have been added to the natural enemies of fleas.

Fleas are easily detected in the coat and by the behavior of the pet and visually. There are now several types of remedies to combat these parasites. You just need to remember the main rule – you need to process not only the animal itself, but the entire room, all the toys, and especially the couch and favorite furniture. This is where fleas accumulate.

Today, the following types of products are most often used – shampoos, drops, and collars. Shampoos and sprays similar in effect to them, dusting powders are first aid products. Usually used in the first stage of the fight immediately after the detection of infection. They easily and quickly kill all settled parasites. But they do not have a prolonged action.

But for prevention and long-term protection, drops and a collar are used. The idea for these methods is one – to plant a certain dose of the drug on the animal, which will protect against infection for a long time. Moreover, the collar is valid for 6 months, and in most regions, this is enough for the protection season.

The drops are designed for 3 months of action. They are applied to the withers of the animal. In principle, the effect is the same as that of the collar, but it is somewhat more convenient to use. This is especially true for cats. In addition, the fur under it does not wipe off the constant wearing of the collar.

So the insect control strategy looks like this – treatment at the beginning of the season with shampoo, then either a collar or a drop with a break of several days. And then you can be practically calm. The main thing is not to forget to check any drug for an allergic reaction and choose a really high-quality one from a reliable manufacturer.
