The terrain of the region is hilly, occupied by vast meadows, lakes, and copses. Since time immemorial, they have been engaged in cattle breeding, mainly sheep breeding. For hundreds of years, dogs have helped people in this matter, being subjected to selection for endurance, ingenuity, obedience.
#6 At the end of the 19th century, dogs became especially popular and were introduced at the first official herding dog competition in Wales in 1873.
