#4 Elghund was bred by thrifty Scandinavians who preferred to breed few dog breeds, but so that each of them could perform several tasks.
#5 The first documentary evidence of the breed dates back to 1865, when the first Norwegian Elghund was entered in the herd book.
#6 In 1901 the breed received the name “Direhund”, it remained until 1949.
