Bernese Mountain Dogs have a friendly personality that allows them to take root in almost any environment. Children and other pets in the house are not a problem for the Bernese Mountain Dog (although, of course, the sooner they are introduced, the better). Because of their herding dog instincts for other animals and children, Bernese Mountain Dogs perceive themselves as “below” themselves in the hierarchy, and will control and protect them, even the most rebellious children and the most rebellious pets.
