Rottweiler: Temperament, Height, Weight

The intimidating appearance of Rottweilers is a kind of tool for them to help reproduce the correct impression on strangers. After all, few people, having seen a representative of this ancient breed on the street, will decide to approach him closer than 10 meters.

Characteristics of an Adult Rottweiler

The standard for appearance for healthy German people was adopted in 2000. According to him, an adult Rottweiler must have the following parameters:

Maximum Height

The height at the withers of the male often reaches 68 cm, the minimum height is 61 cm. Females are slightly lower. The minimum for them is 56 cm, the maximum is 63 cm.

Weight

The bodyweight of the Molossian ancestors corresponds to their height. Males must weigh at least 50 kg, females at least 42 kg.

Coat Color

A purebred Rottweiler can only be black, decorated with brownish-tan hair. The tan is located on the chest, paws, and muzzle.

Hair

The coat is uniform, short, and very dense, close to the body. The cover hair is coarse, the undercoat is thick. In the sun, the wool shines beautifully and shimmers.

Ears, Tail

Rottweiler’s ears are shaped like triangles. Not too large in size, hanging on cartilage. The tail continues the line of the back, straight and rather strong.

Rottweiler Puppy Characteristics

Rottweiler puppies, like all “kids”, are the embodiment of tenderness and mimicry. The soft toy-like babies are cute and extremely welcoming, even with strangers.

In adolescence, the Rottweiler experiences all the delights of growing up and puberty. A teenager can be difficult to handle and keep in check. But as soon as the dog turns 2 years old, it becomes fully adult, the behavior changes, the formation of external parameters completely ends.

Height

Monthly puppies can grow up to 22 cm in height. At 3 months, the height at the withers is approximately 48 cm, at 6 – 60 cm, and at 12 months the height can already be as in an adult.

Weight

The bodyweight of a Rottweiler at the age of 1 month is from 3 to 4.5 kg. A three-month-old baby must weigh at least 14 kg. By six months, the weight reaches 30 kg. A one-year-old dog may well reach the weight of its adult parents.

Color, Coat

The color and type of coat remain unchanged in Rottweilers from birth.

Ears, Tail

The ears of these dogs are not cropped. The tail is trimmed at the request of the breeder or owner.

The Rottweiler is a beautiful and personable dog. However, if you do not deal with it, it is wrong to feed and neglect physical development, the appearance, as well as the state of health and mental development, will leave much to be desired.
