Do Dogs Understand Laughter?

Admit it, you have thought about this more than once. Many of us have pets and pets at home. Usually, it is a cat or a dog and it is about them that we will now talk about. For example, I have always worried about this question. Can animals cry or laugh? Of course, they can express emotions, they whine, whine, they can make a sad face, but…. How about more complex emotions? After all, probably no one has seen crying or laughing cat. Only a person can cry, because this requires not only pain but also fear, emotions, the ability to think and feel. And animals don’t know-how. Even babies only scream at birth, they start crying later.

Laughter is also a human emotion. Sometimes it may seem to us that animals are laughing, but this is a deception of hearing. Animals can imitate us, but they can’t really laugh. Tell me, will a cat be able to appreciate a good and funny anecdote and laugh after that? Unlikely. How about a funny scene? The same situation. Only people can understand all the subtleties of jokes and humor and react to them with laughter.

When we recognize a joke, our brain reacts to it with laughter. It’s no secret that jokes are different for everyone.

Also, psychologists have proven that laughter is a social phenomenon. Most of the time we laugh when we are with friends. We tell jokes and funny anecdotes, we share our impressions and we laugh. After all, you must agree that when you are in the company of friends, the mood immediately changes. You are no longer alone, you are fun, easy, and simple. You immediately feel liberated, you start joking, and after the jokes, laughter is born. Animals cannot and cannot and never will be able to do this. Laughter is something that is unique to humans. Man is the happiest being because he knows how to laugh. Laughter relieves stress. If it were not for this, it would be very tight.

You can try to argue and say that you have a parrot that laughs a lot. But this is also not a brain reaction, like in cats and dogs. This is a reflex and memorization. The parrot simply reproduces sounds familiar to him. He does what you often do in front of him. Although, who knows, maybe it makes him happier? If so, then let him laugh!

  1. wow ever wrote this does not know anything about parrots. Not all parrots just mimic. Some parrots can be trained to use language in context. therefore they do know when to laugh. A good book for them to read would be “Alex and Me” by Dr. Pepperberg. She has done some amazing work in the parrot world
