Miniature Schnauzer Dimensions

For each breed that has been officially recognized, certain standards have been developed. So, the dog must meet the established standards for height and weight. These indicators are evaluated at exhibitions, taken into account when breeding. What are the parameters of a Miniature Schnauzer dog?

Height and Weight by Month

Newborn puppies of the Miniature Schnauzer are very small. Their body weight usually does not exceed two hundred grams. The minimum birth weight is 150 grams. Further development usually occurs according to the following scheme:

At 2 months old, the puppies are already moving to a new home. At the time of purchase, the owner must weigh and measure the height at the withers of the pet. Usually, these indicators vary between 18-21 cm in height and 1.8-2.5 kg in weight.

At 4 months, the miniature schnauzer becomes noticeably larger. So, its weight reaches 3.5-5.5 kg. At the same time, growth does not exceed 33 cm.

A half-year-old schnauzer weighs between 4 and 6.5 kg. At the withers, the height of the dog reaches 34 cm. The minimum indicator is 32 cm.

At 10 months, a teenager is already approaching the parameters of an adult. Weight – 5-7.5 kg. Growth 32-34cm.

A one-year-old miniature schnauzer has the same height and weight indicators as an adult dog. So, their height at the withers reaches 35 cm, body weight – 8 kg.

The owner should take measurements of the pet monthly. If the violations from the established norms are significant, the puppy will need to be shown to the veterinarian. Growth and weight gain may be slightly slowed down during the period when the puppy changes teeth. Everything will be restored after the milk teeth and incisors are replaced by molars.

Dogs with infectious diseases can lag slightly behind the norm. It sometimes takes a lot of time to recover from them. It should also be noted that males always develop much faster than females. The parameters of their height and weight always go according to the upper norms, while for girls everything happens the other way around.
