#7 In the 1920’s the GB Kennel Club recognized Corgis as purebred dogs. They were officially known as Welsh Corgis when they were first shown in 1925. At the time, Pembrokes and Cardigans were shown in the same class as one breed.

#8 Then in 1934 the Kennel Club recognized the Pembroke and Cardigan as separate breeds. That same year, the American Kennel Club did the same. Pembrokes were first shown in the US in 1936.

#9 Pembrokes slowly grew in popularity in the US and today they are among the top 50 most popular family pet breeds. She is also loved by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of England, having received her first Pembroke Welsh Corgi in 1933 from her father (King George VI).
