The average lifespan of the breed is from 7 to 11 years, taking into account the absence of serious diseases, proper care, and genetic abnormalities.

Possible Health Issues of the English Bulldog

This is not to say that bulldogs are very painful and therefore live less than other breeds. Each breed has its own aging rate. Therefore, it is often possible to meet already at the age of 5 an “old” bulldog with gray hairs.

Oncological diseases are in the first place. For this reason, approximately 21% of Bulldogs die.

In second place are heart problems, heart failure. 18% of representatives of the breed leave the owners because of this disease.

In third place are strokes, which affect 8% of bulldogs.

Cardiomyopathy sends about 5% of pets to another world, the same percentage end their lives due to stomach problems.

As you can see, the most common cause of death for bulldogs is cancer and heart failure. But it is worth noting that the first reason is also typical for other breeds to the same extent. Therefore, it cannot be said that only Bulldogs suffer from this cause. But speaking of insufficiency, it should be mentioned here that the number of bulldogs is three times more than all other breeds that die for this very reason.
